Here are some abstract photos from a hike yesterday. I’ve hiked this trail numerous times and have always marveled at the crazy patterns, textures, and colors in this certain section of exposed rock. This time I stopped to take some photos. Here are a few that I liked. Overcast, stormy skies provided the perfect lighting, and a simple boost of contrast really made the colors pop even more.
Very cool, man. They all have a nice flow, but the first takes the cake. Good call stopping to make these images!
Beautiful! I love rocks and find them intriging. I am amazed at how thin these layers are. This would make a beautiful design for a fabric, especially that first one.
Cool photos. I’m sure you’re aware you’re right next to a classic geology example of an unconformity, it’s in all the geology texts:

Ah, yes, I’ve read the plaque explaining about that, which is posted next the Box Canyon bridge overlooking that unconformity. Thanks for the link!

If you win, I’ll buy the lens from you if you don’t need it. 🙂
BTW, aren’t you heading for Switzerland soon?
