Stars over the Matterhorn, as a rising 10% moon illuminates the sky with pastel hues - as seen from Zermatt. The camera's high sensitivity long exposure "sees" much more than what was visible to the naked eye; when I took this photo, I could barely even see the shape of the Matterhorn.
Dim moonlight, stars, and the Matterhorn. This was taken after "Matterhorn Stars #1", and by then the very first light of dawn had brightened the sky quite a bit, though still barely perceptible with the naked eye.

Wow. So cool. The Matterhorn is just such a spectacular mountain. It’s hard to imagine that I once climbed that ridge – the Hornligrat. Looks pretty gnar in your photos, which I’m sure it is in winter.
Wow, you climbed that? Sweeeet!!! I got some killer close-up shots of the Matterhorn & Hornligrat ridge later today from up at Riffelalp… I’ll post those soon.
Such a spectacular mountain indeed! It’s a mountain sculpture.
Thanks Justin! For me, on the other hand, this is one of those mountains that is clearly saying to me – “I’m meant to be admired from afar… not climbed by you!” 🙂

Are you in Zermatt right now? I’m so jealous.
Yeah, second time in two weeks! My parents are visiting Switzerland so I had to show them the Matterhorn!
Love your pictures they are fantastic!
I posted your link in relation to my blog post!
Thanks Victoria!
As always my disregard for Jack grows!
Thanks for your kind compliment, Jody! 🙂
Great shots, Jack…really love that second one. What a ridge? This mountain is on my life list to climb and these shots make it all the more tempting.
