Norio is back in SE Alaska for the summer. There will be a documentary about him this fall (Nov.) shown in Japan. Trying to get a copy to be shown locally on PBS.

What a great interview. I've read it twice or may be more during the last months. Norio and Ladislav Kamarad are probably the most extreme landscape photographers right now.
It's a curious thing to notice that each of them have an amazing portfolio but the beauty is rather different. Kamarad is pure technical and visual perfection and he goes every inch of the road to get the most out of his equipment.
Norio on the other hand produces photos with a very strong emotional impact. They have their tech flaws, but just knowing HOW they were shot and the passion behind the work is priceless.
Both portfolios are a visual delight to explore.
By the way, Norio Matsumoto has a new webpage, it's here:
www.braingiants.com/noriomatsumoto/
Whish someone notice this guy and publish a nice book of his work.

Thanks for introducing us to Mr. Matsumoto! The work is amazing - and the effort to make these images goes beyond imagination. Thank you, Norio for sharing your beautiful, vivid, unique photography here!

Way way cool, Jack - thanks for the interview and the links. I think it would be way cool to be in Alaska like that in the winter (not for 60 days though :-)
