A Bit of Braunschweig

Street in Braunschweig
Braunschweig, Germany

After our time in Dresden, we spent a week in the city of Braunschweig visiting Claudia’s sister, her husband, and our little 3-year-old nephew. See a few snapshots of our time in Braunschweig below!

Funky Braunschweig
Some wacky architecture in Braunschweig.

Oker Reflection
Padding along the Oker River.

Teresa and Volker live in an apartment right along the Oker River which meanders through lovely park land near the center of town. One day we took out their kayaks for a paddle to a riverside biergarten destination.

Braunschweig Bouldering
At the bouldering gym in Braunschweig.

Volker took me to his local bouldering gym one day; this was actually my first time ever on a proper bouldering wall! So much fun, until my arms felt like they would explode after about 45 minutes of climbing.

I’m posting this from a train on the way to Freiburg, where we’ll spend a few days visiting friends. After that, we head to the Alps for three weeks of hut-trekking! We plan on visiting the northern limestone Alps, starting from Mittenwald (which we visited back in 2013 prior to climbing Zugspitze) and generally heading east through the Karwendel, Kaisergebirge, Berchtesgadener, and Dachstein ranges. So, this might be my last post for a while since we’ll be busy hiking soon!
